DEAR FAMILY
Dear Family,
How are you all doing? Things are going great here in Tela. We had
our first baptism on Saturday. We baptized a 17-year-old boy who we found my
second day here. It was really awesome to see him change his ways and want to
be baptized. He really is great. Lately, we have found a lot of people and
families who are really interested in and excited to hear our message.
Everybody we talk to, we invite them to repent of their sins and be baptized
into Christ's Church, cuz that's how Preach my Gospel teaches it. They really
stress that here...to be bold. I love it. The Spanish is coming along. I can
understand pretty much everything in the lessons, but I struggle just talking
to people. I am trying my hardest everyday to get better and learn more. I love
talking to the people. The little kids here are so funny. They think I am so
funny...I don't think they have ever seen such a big Gringo with white hair. My
Companion is great. He is teaching me new things every day. The other day we
went to San Pedro Sula for interviews with President Ochoa. I really like him.
He told me the mission is going to be one big wrestling match! And then he told
me that the biggest match that I am going to have is with myself, but that
if I will be 100% obedient to all the mission rules, and work as hard as I
can, that I will be a really great missionary. He told me to not worry about
the language as much, and to just relax. He said I am doing above average right
now...that made me feel so much better. After the interviews, President Ochoa's
wife made peanut butter sandwiches for the missionaries. A peanut butter
sandwich has never tasted better in my life. Have you guys received any of my
letters yet? I think I have sent two or three...I am not sure. And Mom, those
stamps you gave me...the lady at the post office said they don't work. I don't
think she knows what she's talking about. Nothing is very organized here. The
post office is pretty much a shack with a lady running it. I am gonna talk to
the Zone Leaders though, and ask them. I love the fruit down here...it is
really great. They have fruit that I have never even heard of or
seen before. It is the best. Oh, and as for pictures, I might be able to
send some over the internet. I am not going to get them printed out here. It's
like three or four dollars for one picture with a digital camera. So, I will
try to figure something out to send you some pictures of Tela. The houses here
are awesome. A lot of houses here are built on stilts. From what I hear, these
houses are only on the beach because of hurricanes and floods. Anyways, I just
wanted to write you a little something. We don't have much time today, so I
have to get going. My companion wants to write something...it's going to be in
Spanish...Chris can translate. Here he is:
