HELLO FROM HONDO!!!!

Image
Dear Family, Everyone take a deep breath with me and calm down. You still have lots of time to think about this little trip. And Honduras isn’t as bad as you think. There are not gangsters walking around with guns everywhere looking for people to jump. Everything will go fine, no reason to get nervous. This is going to be a little baggie letter because I have to answer all your questions. I wrote Chris a letter to give him some answers to some of his questions. If you have any more questions call Brother Douglas Butts and he can call me. Mom, don’t worry about your clothes. None of the women wear shorts. Only skirts, capris, or jeans. A lot of the women here in the church wear capris or jeans with a nice blouse and nice sandals or nice little shoes like you always wear. Nobody really wears tennis shoes here though like we do in the States (women). The guys here don’t wear shorts. Usually jeans. But bring some nice shorts, Dad and Chris, if you want. Just for the change meeting, brin...

TO THE FAM FROM HONDO

Dear Fam, Well this is going to have to be fast. It is Tuesday and I have no time. Yesterday we had to move houses, so I didn’t have time to write. Wasn’t Conference way awesome this weekend? I was on the edge of my seat listening the whole time. It was probably the Best General Conference that I can remember. It went by way fast. I remember back in the days when Conferences would just drag on forever. After the first session on Saturday some of our Zone and I went and ate at Pizza Hut. That was really fun. And Sunday, between sessions we had three baptisms at the Stake Center in our Zone. I had to interview an old Grandma named Rosa that is 88 years old. She was way so cute how she answered all the baptismal questions. Anyways, this Saturday, we are going to baptize a 39-year-old man named Ramon. We were teaching his brothers about three weeks ago, but they weren’t progressing…so then we found him, and we have been teaching him for about two weeks now. He went to Priesthood Session...

ANSWERS TO ???S

Dear Dad, How are you? This email is just to answer some of your questions. So Chris is going to be down here on Monday. I don’t think anybody I know here in my area would be able to get him from the airport. Nobody has a car and the ones that do have a car are working during the daytime. So I don’t know what he can do. And as for working with me on Monday and Tuesday, that would be awesome. Only Monday we don’t go out and work until 6:00. So maybe he would want to meet up with us Tuesday. I am going to see if it is okay with President. But where is he going to sleep? He won’t be able to sleep in our house. Is he going to rent a car?   What are his plans? We have interviews with President on Wednesday… I will talk to prez. Yes Brother Butts is back in Honduras now. You can call him. I told him you are going to call today. He is awaiting your phone call. He should be able to give you or be able to get you some information. He has about 3 years of traveling from the states to...

HELLO AGAIN!

Dearest Goonies and Family, Well, I just got done writing a huge letter and I lost it and I am not very happy. Here are the highlights: This last Tuesday we had a sweet Zone Leader Conference with Elder Farabela, who is in the First Quorum of the Seventy and will be talking in this General Conference that is coming. The conference was amazing. I am happy because this Thursday I will be completing 21 years old and I still feel like a 14 year old boy. My cook is going to throw me a birthday party, but not this week because she is going to the temple in Guatemala.  My new Companion and I are fasting every week to keep seeing miracles in this little area. The Lord really has blessed me and it has been a blessing to see my converts in this area use their priesthood by blessing and passing the sacrament, and going on divisions with us during the week. This Saturday my convert Brother Melvin Caseres will be baptizing his 8 year old son David. I am way excited. This Tuesday will be ...

TO THE FAM FROM HONDURAS

Dear Family, How is everyone doing? Thank you all for the letters and for the prayers. I am doing great here still in La Aurora. This last week was really great with my new companion E. Flores from El Salvador. He is my first companion that is taller then me. I was his Zone Leader in Colon, he was one of the two district leaders when we baptized 55 people in the month of December. After December he went to a Zone called Merendon and was there for January all the way up to September 12th. And now we are companions. We get along really great and he is a good missionary. This last week we received two new missionaries in our zone. On Saturday we had a really special zone conference. For the conference we all dressed up in our white baptismal clothes. It was a special conference that us leaders in the zone prepared for everyone. We didn’t even tell any of the Elders that it was going to be a special zone conference. We just told all the Elders to meet in our church building at 9:00 on Sa...

Dear Fam, Well, I am really pumped up right now. We are going to have so much success this change here in my favorite area, La Aurora. Yes, that is right, I do not have a transfer, and I am the happiest person on the planet. My companion will be going this Wednesday to another area, and I will be receiving a new companion. It has been a wonderful four and a half months with him here. We have learned so much from each other, but we both really wanted a change. Change in the mission is always good. I am so ready for this last change. We are going to tear it up. This Sunday we had an absolutely awesome activity. We had a ¨Missionary for One Day¨ activity. We had 24 members of the church be a missionary for one day. We gave them their mission calls last week in church (assigned by the stake presidency) to serve as a missionary for one day. They all got up yesterday at 6 o’clock and got ready, then went by investigators’ homes to pick them up for church. Church starts at 8:00, then after ...

FROM HONDURAS

Dearest Fam, Sorry for the guilt trip that I threw on everyone last week with the letters thing. That wasn’t my intention. But it did work! I did receive more letters this week then in a while. Thanks to all. Well here I am still here in San Pedro contacting all the houses in this little area with 4 roads and one gay colony. It is actually really fun, because the second time we contact the same house, we still remember what happened the first time and the same exact thing happens all over again. We still got the faith though that we are going to find more people to baptize in this area. My companion always jokes with me sometimes and tells me we should just go around asking people for their information, so we can baptize them as soon as they die. Lately we have been having some struggles with finding people. Right now we are pretty much looking for little alley ways or for houses that are kind of hidden. And besides that we are re-contacting the houses all over again. My companion an...
