HOLA FROM HONDURAS
Dear Family,
Well, looks like the internet is the fastest way for you to get my
letters. But, I will still hand-write some. About 3 days ago, I got some
of your letters that you wrote me when I was in the MTC...from Mom, Becca, Dad,
etc..They were dated like the 10th of November, and one was like the 17th.
Anyways, to answer all your questions, well some, it cost five limps (about 25
cents) for one half hour on the internet...it's 19 limps to the dollar.
And I am really running low on limps right now. We don't get that much
here. From what I have heard, the missionaries don't get paid that much for
food and personal needs. The members really don't feed us that much except for
on Sunday. Well, here we eat baleadas like every day. It is a tortilla with
beans and this white cream stuff...if you're rich, you might throw a
little egg on them. I don't think I am losing weight yet, but I don't know...I
don't have a scale. And yes, I am working out every morning, and trying to make
the best use of my half hour. In our mission, we wake up at 6:00 AM. It's
really weird, because I wake up every night like three times to see if it's
6:00 yet. It seems like I am asleep forever. Right now, it is pretty hot, and
rains a little here and there. But, when it rains, it rains!...we just get
soaked. It's fun though...I like it. All the kids like it here too, cuz they
play mud futbolito. Everybody plays futbolito here. It's soccer with a little
ball. Here, what people do for a living is whatever they can find to do to
survive and provide for their family...selling hot dogs, driving a taxi, alot
of people have their own pulperia...a little store with chips, sugar, bread,
drinks, etc. And I don't know why we don't have mommitas. In some areas, they
do have cooks and someone to wash their clothes...just depends where you're at.
There are banana trees everywhere, and all kinds of awesome fruit. And, as for
the streets, mostly dirt, except like in the center of the town. Everyone rides
a bike here. You would be surprised to see how many Hondurenos can fit on one
bike. They always ride around in 2´s. One sits in the center of the bike and
steers, while the other sits on the seat and pedals. It really is funny. Well,
this last week was great. We are going to baptize an 18-year-old girl this
Saturday. She is a friend of a family who are members, and pretty much lives
there. She is really excited. We have been teaching the follow-up lessons
to the boy we baptized last Saturday, because the members don't do that
here. He is excited and wants to serve a mission. He has been attending Church
and all of the Church activities. He's doing great. As for our other
investigators, they're doing great as well. We are teaching a lady with five
boys...they are all doing great. Her boys love me. Whenever they see me, they
always give me thumbs up and wink at me. They're really funny. We are setting a
date for them...the 11th of February to get baptized. We also have some other
investigators that are progressing, but I don't have time to write about all of
them. I will write you a little letter tonight . Our goal has been to
find more families. We pray every day for our investigators and for people to
find and teach that are ready to receive the Gospel. We can really see the Lord
answering our prayers. Its awesome. Well, today was our Zone P-day in Tela. All
the missionaries came here for the P-day. We played volleyball on the beach,
and futbolito for about 3 hours, and then went and ate pizza. It was really
fun, even though I did pick up my first sunburn. My arms and neck and face are
pretty red. Yes Mom, I will use sunscreen next time. I love the Elders in our
zone. The Zone Leaders are so awesome...one is from Idaho and the other is from
Washington. The one from Idaho is leaving for home in 10 days and is really
bummed that he has to leave. He is really a great Elder. Well, I have to
run...my time is up on the computer. Thank you so much for the emails. Sounds
like everyone is doing great. Good luck with everything. I will write some
letters tonight. Dad, can you send me everyone's email address? I can only
email on P-days, which is Monday. So, I will probably be emailing every Monday.
Thank you so much for your prayers...I can feel them working in my life. I have
been blessed so much. Have a great week. Adios!!
Love, Elder Lee
