HOLA FROM MORELOS

Dear Family,
How's it going? I am now in a new area. My new companion's name is Elder Valencia from the capital of Guatemala. He is my third straight Comp from the capital of Guatemala. We are opening an area that hasn't been opened. We are in an area called Morelos. It is really small. Its probably not even on the map.  It's about 20 minutes from Villanueava. Our little Branch has about 40 people...10 to 15 adults, about 5 youth, and the rest are a bunch of little kids. I am really excited for this challenge. The Lord obviously opened this area right now because there are chosen people here who are ready to listen to and accept the Gospel. It has been kind of rough the past few days, because my Comp and I don't really know anything about the area, or where any of our members live. The members are really excited to have us here, though. The first day we were here, about every member wanted to wash our clothes. We don't have a cook, so we are experimenting again. Lately, we have been eating 'Cup of Noodles' and maybe a sandwich or two. It is a lot cooler here then in Tela, but still really hot. Oh, I almost forgot...I had probably the craziest night on my mission. And the Elders, that have been here for almost two years, have said that it was the craziest night they have had...so it was pretty crazy. The night before the change meeting, on Tuesday, I had just gotten out of the shower and was putting on my clothes.  Before getting into bed, we said our prayers...it was about 10:25 p.m. when we were all nice and comfortable in our beds. And then, at about 10:35, we heard this loud knocking at our door. We answered our door and it was this little kid that lives at our cook's house. He told us that we needed to hurry and run to his house, because the Assistants to the President needed to talk to us really quick. So we got dressed and ran to our cook's house, cuz we don't have a phone. We called the AP's and they told us to get all of our stuff ready and go wake up the Sisters in Telemar, and get to the church by 1:00 in the morning, and a bus will pick us up out there.  We had no clue what was going on. So, it was kind of weird. We then went and woke up the Sisters by banging on there window for about 5 minutes. They were all scared and freaking out...it was actually really funny. Then, we got all of their suitcases and went to the Church in Tela. We waited for about an hour outside of the church, and still the bus hadn't come. So then, me and my Companion went looking for the bus at about 2:00 in the morning . We started walking down the middle of the street in the central part of Tela. That probably wasn't the brightest thing to do. It was actually kind of scary. This car drove by and just stared at us like we were from outer-space. As we were walking, a black man came up to us. I was kind of scared. He started speaking English.  He said, "I just wanted to shake an Angel's hand"...he then told us he had never seen Angels walking Central at 2:00 in the morning. I tried to tell him we weren't Angels, just Missionaries in white shirts and ties. But he kept cutting me off and telling me to put him in a high kingdom of God, and all this other stuff. It was actually really weird. We then kept walking, looking for the bus by this park, where they said they would be waiting, if they couldn't find the church. But they weren't at the park, so we walked back to the church. This other guy rode by on his bike and was really scared when he saw us, he acted like he had a gun behind his back…he rode by really fast. Anyways, the bus finally came, at about 2:30 AM, and there were about a million missionaries packed into one bus with all their luggage. It was pretty fun. We then headed to San Pedro. The buses have CD players here, so we had Church Music going on the bus, and everyone was singing. It was really great. We got to San Pedro at about 4:30 AM...got all of the luggage out of the bus, and settled into the church at about 5:30 AM. I went into a classroom and slept for about 45 minutes and then woke up. We then waited for all of the other missionaries to come. At about nine o'clock, Elder Richard G. Scott came and talked to us for about four hours. We then had our change meeting. After that, we went to this big stadium in San Pedro at 6:00 PM to listen to Elder Scott talk. This was a Big Event for all of the members here in Honduras, and for our investigators. Well anyways, after that, we went to my new Zone Leader's house to sleep. We got there at about 10:00 PM. I was so tired. I think I am still tired from that day. It was really fun though. I actually only explained about 1/4 of the story. Anyways, I am now here in Morelos...I live in probably one of the nicest houses in Honduras. And it is the nicest one in the mission that Elders live in. It's all they could find for us. It is huge. Probably bigger than our house at home. I really like it, but then I don't. I feel really bad living here when everybody around us lives in these little hut houses. We only live in one room of the house. The kitchen is huge, and we have a full-size refrigerator and an updated oven... probably nicer than your oven. Anyways, I kind of feel bad living here. My time is up. I need to get running. I sent you some pictures of the house. Please pray for me and my Companion to have success here. Thank you for all your letters. Have a great day. I love you all. Elder Lee   P.S.
