HOLA FAM
Dear Family,
How is everybody doing? Things are
going great here in Los Morelos. We had the opportunity to listen to every
session of General Conference. We had to travel to Villanueva to where it was
being broadcast. We also had a miracle happen, so we could listen to it. The Sunday
morning session is usually the only session all the members can go to because
nobody has cars...each ward has to take a busload to the Stake Center in
Villanueva. Well, when we arrived, about 45 minutes before the Conference was
supposed to start, we came to find out that the electrical company had shut off
all the power in the Church. Satan was trying to work through the power
company. So, there we were in the church, with every member of the stake, a
whole ton of investigators from every area, and no General Conference. The
leaders went and got a generator (I have no clue from where), but they tried to
get that going. We couldn't get anything to work. I said about five
different prayers, asking the Lord to let things work, and to help us be able
to have General Conference for all these people at the Church. Some people
traveled over three hours just to get there. Some walked over an hour. Well, at
about 10 o'clock, the exact time when Conference was scheduled to start, all of
a sudden, Conference pops up, and they are saying the opening prayer. It was so
awesome. Everybody was so excited. I know the Lord truly did something to allow
us to have Conference. Every session of Conference was so awesome. I learned
another thing on the mission. You can get a whole lot more out of Conference
when you're awake the whole time. Conference has never flown by that fast for
me. It was the weirdest thing. It felt like every session was about five
minutes. Weren't they awesome though? I feel like the people after King
Benjamin gave his address. The people said something like this after he was
finished and asked if they believed..."Of course we believe. It has been
made manifest to us through the Spirit, and because of this, we don't want to
do evil anymore, but to do good continually." It was something like that,
I think, in chapter 5 of Mosiah at the beginning. Isn't that just so
true?...after every talk don't you just feel like being a better person?... and
want to do good continually?...and do evil no more? General Conference is so
powerful. It is truly something I used to take for granted. I learned to love
the apostles so much more when I was in the MTC. They are so great. Their words
are so inspiring. I have no doubt in my mind...I know for a surety that those
men are truly called and chosen of God. Elder Ballard's and Elder Scot'ts talks
on missionary work were great. I truly agree with Elder Scott when he said
"You wont regret serving a mission, but if you don't serve, you'll regret
it the rest of your life." I am so happy to be out here serving my
Heavenly Father. I know there isn't anything better that I could be doing at
this moment in my life. Isn't it just great that 19-year-old boys take two
years out of their lives, and put their lives on hold to dedicate themselves to
and serve the Lord? I have learned so much in so little time. The things that I
know would have taken me a whole lot longer to learn, if I weren't serving a
mission. Anyways, I really loved the part about President Hinckley's
Patriarchal Blessing. Wasn't that so awesome? The Church is so true!
Also, I have come to really love my Patriarchal Blessing here on the mission.
There are so many great things in my Patriarchal Blessing. Anytime I am ever
feeling a little down or discouraged, I know I can just read it, and I'll be
right back on my feet, ready for more. Patriarchal Blessings are so amazing.
President Hinckley is still funny in his old age...96 years old and he's still
making jokes in General Conference. Only one time in the hospital in 96
years is pretty amazing. And it's really good that he doesn't recommend
hospitals as a place for us to visit. Haha. I can't remember what session it
was, but President Tomas S. Monson was really funny too. I think it was in
Priesthood. I love his talks...they always have stories and a little bit of
humor, and a lot of sincerity...just like President Hinckley said. Well this
upcoming week, we have a baptism on Saturday. We should have baptisms here till
changes. If we don't baptize in every area, every week, we are doing something
wrong as missionaries. There are so many chosen people ready to listen to the
gospel everywhere in the world. We just have to humble ourselves before the
Lord, and let Him work through us, and we can find them. Well, this upcoming
week we have a lot going on. We have a District Meeting tomorrow, and then
Wednesday, we have a Multi-Zone Conference. Thursday, we have interviews with
the President. Saturday, we teach an English class and then we have our
baptism. So, we have a pretty full schedule. Well, my time is almost up. I hope
everything is going well at home. Sounds like everyone is having a great time.
You all sound spoiled. Becca, Chris and Mom...thanks for your letters. Becca,
keep giving it your best in all that you do. Sorry about Jr Miss, but that's
great that you still loved it all. Smoke the Kirkwood girl for me when you
throw the javelin. To everyone else...Thank you for your prayers and all you
do. Have a great week. Love, Elder Lee
