FAM
Dear
Fam,
How's
everyone doing? I don't have much time today so I am going to make this quick.
I didn't email last week because I got changed. I am now in Villas Del Rio. Its
about 15 minutes from Villanueva and about 40 minutes from my old area. That's
on a bus, but in a car it's a lot faster. But I wouldn't know anything about
cars. Well I officially have my first Gringo companion. He's not exactly Gringo
though...his Dad is from Pakistan and his Mom was born in Japan on a military
base, but she is an American. He served the first 6 months of his mission in
Tela, then 6 months in the office, and then he went to Belize for about 8
months. He is now back in Honduras, and has this change left before he goes
home. Did I ever tell you guys Belize got taken out of our mission? It is now
part of El Salvador West. But that kind of stunk, cuz I was hoping to serve
there. All the Elders that have ever served there, always have great stories to
tell. Oh yeah, my Comp's name is Elder (Farook Inam) Khan. He's a terrorist.
He's got the Middle Eastern look to him. He was born and lives in California.
He was baptized when he was 17. His parents aren't members of the Church. But
anyways, this past week has been really awesome. I am actually starting to run
out of things to say...he knows my whole life-story in just a half of a week!
He's a really good missionary. We are having a sweet time together. Sometimes,
we probably stay up too late in our beds talking. He is the most organized
person I have ever met in my life. Mom, he is more organized than you! He is
really smart too and knows a lot about computers and everything else. He really
likes making movie videos on the computer. So I think I am gonna have to find
him after my mission and learn some stuff. Well, in our area we really don't
have very many investigators. My Comp and his old Comp really didn't get along
very well...I guess the other elder was kind of a jerk. So pray for us to have
success and find people to teach. It is really hot right now here in Honduras.
The food is still the same, except for this family that lives up on a hill in a
beautiful residential area...we ate at their house (it's a mansion) last night.
We had some fat steaks, with all kinds of salads, in a really nice dinning
room. I'll have to send a picture. They are making me three pants and a white
shirt for free. So, I am going to have a whole pile of new pants now. Anyways,
all is well here in Honduras. I am still alive, breathing and eating. Nobody
has tried to jump me or kill me yet, but there's always a first for everything.
Right where we live there have been some robberies, but nothing too serious.
Thank you for your prayers and letters. Keep them coming. I will try to write a
hand-written letter here sometime soon. Oh, and yes the Easter Bunny finally
found me in Honduras...about a month after Easter. He almost melted to death.
His chocolate eggs were melted together to make a big fat chocolate blob. But I
thanked him anyways. I am not sure where he went from here, but thanks
for sending him, and for the batteries. I have to get going. Thanks for
everything again. Hope all is well in the big city of Connell, and everywhere
else. Many Handshakes, Elder Lee
Here are some pictures: 1. This is my old Comp and Me. We painted a shop for a doctor that was in our ward. 2. My going away cake. It says Feliz Viaje, which means Happy Travels! That was a really good cake. 3. This is my new Comp and Me after the change meeting. 4. My Comp and I are feeling like we're at home! We are eating at a mansion here in our area. The food was really good!
