HONDURAS ROCKS!
Dear Family,
This week was full of
all kinds of ups and downs. We had seven that were supposed to get baptized and
not one of them got baptized. First of all, we had a sister, Maria de los
Angeles, the mom of Juana, who just got baptized, and the mom of the
17-year-old kid Luis, that got baptized a month ago, and her two other kids of
9 and 11 years. Her husband is in the States, but anyways, those 3 were
supposed to get baptized, but she wanted to talk to her husband in the States
first. She doesn’t have his number, so we have to wait until he calls.
Two other young men, named David and Miguel, were supposed to get baptized, but
things didn’t fall right, so they will be baptized this upcoming Saturday. We
also had this other man, who is married, named Wilmer. He is a stud. But this
last week has been hard for him... pastors have been going to his house telling
him all kinds of things about the Church. His whole family was against him
getting baptized. During his interview, the day before he was supposed to get
baptized, his wife came in screaming and yelling. Anyways, the day of his
baptism, we couldn’t find him. His family said he moved to another place. But,
we think they might be lying to us. We still haven’t found him since he had his
interview. Then we had another Brother named Jose Cruz of 27, who is married,
and was supposed to get baptized, but had to work this week all through the day
and night. So, he will be getting baptized next week also. Even though we had
disappointments, I had this really great experience this week. Saturday night,
after all of the areas in the Zone got done baptizing, our Zone fell short of
our Zone goal of 58. Our Zone had 56 baptisms to end this month of August.. I
felt really, really bad. The thing I felt bad about was at the beginning of the
month our Zone knelt down together and promised the Lord we would accomplish
our goal, even though it was way high. I felt like it was my fault cuz we had
so many possibilities, and not one got baptized. I felt like our Zone failed
because of us. So Saturday night, I got on my knees and prayed my heart out to
the Lord and asked for forgiveness. I then felt something really great. I felt
a feeling of calmness...of joy! I felt like the Lord was telling me,
"Thank you" for the work I had done. It was an awesome experience. I
then started a fast on that Saturday night to humble myself unto the Lord. I
hadn’t eat since Saturday at 12:00 in the afternoon. But I started my fast from
Saturday night, and told the Lord I would fast till Sunday night. It was the
hardest fast I have ever done. I went like 30 something hours without eating or
drinking, and it was really hot outside. When I really felt the Lord had
accepted my sacrifice was Sunday night when we received a phone call from the
Zone Leaders. They told us another area baptized 3 more Sunday night...so our
Zone exceeded the goal of 58.We baptized 59 souls in one month!!!!! I got
tingles down my spine. I was so happy. So that was a really great experience
for me. Then the bad news came. I was told I had a change. That I am getting
changed out of the Zone and the area Wednesday. That was sad news. The Lord,
Elder Mejia, and I have had so much success in this area. We have been blessed
tremendously. Just in these last 2 changes, I have learned the secret to
missionary work. You have to depend on the Lord for everything, and do your
best to become like He is. I have grown to really love the members here.
Anyways, that was a little about this week. I got to wrap things up cuz I gotta
pack my suitcases. Please pray for all the people I will be leaving in this
area. Pray for the investigators that will be baptized here this upcoming week.
Oh, and today we went to a waterfall. It was awesome. I will send some
pictures. I love you all and hope everything is going great for everyone.
Becca, my Comp says he loves the picture...Haha. I love you all. Thank you for
your support and prayers.
Con Amor, Elder
Lee
Here are some photos: 1. This is one of my best friends on the mission, Elder Cornelison. He is from California. This is when we hiked the mini mountain last week on P-day. That was way fun.
2.Well, I have this picture in football, and in wrestling, so I thought I would give it a shot as a missionary. This was at a waterfall we went to today, because our zone baptized 59 this month of August. A nice record for the mission. Today was really fun. Tomorrow the President is going to take our Zone out to eat for lunch. I am way excited. 4.Almost all of the Zone. Missing are my Comp and two others. This is at the waterfall place also. 5. This is the little soccer field on the top of the mountain in this little tiny town. Last week we played soccer here for about two hours with a whole bunch of little kids. 6. The Primary's Anniversary Party. We took our new investigator family there, and one of our investigators that has 22 years (far right). It was way fun. 7. This is Tautcho and Jauna after we married them outside of the church. They are doing so great right now.
