HOWDIE!
Dearest
Fam,
Well,
it started out to be a great week when I received a package from Kris in Spain.
He sent me some nice little goodies with a beautiful tie and a tape. This week
was kind of crazy. I was in like four different areas on divisions. I really
had some great experiences in these other areas. The Spirit worked through me
to get 2 people baptized that weren't planning on getting baptized this past
week, in other missionaries' areas. One of them was a 16 year-old-girl who is
named Michelle. She lives with members and goes to Church. I talked to her and
interviewed her (without her knowing I was asking the interview questions). She
passed all the questions and didn't have any problems, but still didn't want to
get baptized. I talked to her for another 15 minutes, and she finally
said she wanted to get baptized. I then asked her who she wanted to perform the
baptism. She said, "I want you to baptize me". I told her I couldn't
do it, because I had baptisms in my own area. She then said she didn't want to
get baptized if I couldn't do it. So then, I convinced her that any worthy
Priesthood holder would be acceptable to the Lord. She finally agreed to
have another missionary baptize her. So she got baptized on Saturday. Then,
there was another grandma named Vicky that got baptized after a nice long hour
interview. So this week was full of all kinds of fun little interviews and
experiences. We had a family of three that was going to get baptized, but when
Elder Alvaraz came to interview them, after their interviews they didn't want
to get baptized. We then went back and visited them, and they are going to get
baptized this Saturday. We also have another couple that needs to get married
this week. They can get baptized this Saturday. Their names are Alex and
Odelia. We will also marry another couple, Andres and his wife, and baptize
Andres this Saturday. Also, we are going to baptize a man named Aldo Santos
this Saturday. So, if everything works out awesome, this weekend we will
baptize seven on Saturday. This will really be a miracle for our ward. Oh and
something that was really really awesome this weekend was the asistencia was
195. Last week it was 115, and the week before, it was 129. So, this last
Sunday, I don't know if all the members ate their Wheaties in the morning or
what, but the attendance was 195! We also brought 11 investigators to Church.
So that was another blessing from the Lord. This week, my companion and I are
going to do another sacrifice week together, so everything works out good with
our investigators, and with the investigators in the District. Please pray for
the Martinez family, and Alex and Odelia. I know you don't know them, but they
need your prayers. They need the strength to make right decisions this week.
This past Thursday, we had a Multi-Zone Conference. It was great, I learned a
lot of stuff. My Zone was congratulated for baptizing 59 last
month. As a mission, we baptized 259 the month of August. It's the most ever
that this mission has baptized in a month. I hope to still be in the mission to
see the mission hit 400 baptisms in a month. Well Puerto Cortez is going
awesome. The members and Bishop are great here. My Comp and I are really getting
along really well. I just found out this week that he has a girlfriend that is
in Provo studying at the 'Y'. She is a Gringa who served in Uraguay on her
mission. So that was kind of interesting. My Comp speaks a little bit of
English. At night I make him pray in English. He is doing really good now. He
just needs to work on his prayer language with Thee, Thou, and Thy. I like
having Comps from other places. I am learning all kinds of new words that they
use in El Salvador. So when I get home, I will be Honduran, Salvadoran,
Guatemalan, Gringo, and Mexican....my Mexican vocab is growing cuz I always ask
companions how Mexicans talk, so I can be prepared when I get home. The Spanish
is going great. I pretty much talk now without even thinking. So that's a little
bit about what"s going on here. Oh, thanks Mom, for the update on the
girls. You're too funny. So Trisha is dating a BYU football player seriously
huh? Very interesting! Elder Khan told me, after about a year in the
mission, missionaries start to receive weird letters saying people are getting
married, doing this, and doing that. Thanks to everyone for the birthday money,
letters and packages. Sounds like everyone is doing great back home. Sounds
like you guys had a good time at the Husky game. I have gotten down to only
about one football dream a week at nights. My companions always tell me I talk
in my sleep in Spanish and in English....and its really hard to understand. My
last companion told me some of the best lessons I teach are at night when I am
sleeping. So Jonathon moved back into town? I mailed him like a 6-page
letter from my last area, but he still hasn't told me that he has received it.
Oh, and if you could get me The Big G dog Gerson's address, that would be
great. His email also. And Carlos', and Brother Edmunds'. I have lost all of
their addresses. Well, I have to get going. I will send some pictures. I hope
everything's going great back home. Thank you for all your prayers, letters
etc....even though some of you make me baggie for about 2 minutes. I am really
excited for another year in the mission. I am looking forward to all kinds of
new and awesome experiences. That sounds really weird to me that Farva is going
on his mission and Caleb Whitby. Aren't they like 17 playing high school
football still? And that sounds crazy that Steven Hawkins already returned.
Wow. Time is really flying. Well gotta run. Have a great week. Love, Elder Lee
