HOWDY
Dear Fam,
This week was a crazy week. We almost weren’t in our area the whole week. During the week, we had a couple of meetings, and a whole bunch of papers to get from other places to marry people, and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday my comp was in Choloma and Elder Garcia was here with me. My Zone Leader, Elder Garcia, and I spent all day Friday and Saturday in the area of our Sisters in my district, interviewing and putting baptismal dates with people. It rained all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Friday we married the Familia Fuentes. They have 8 kids and 6 of them are going to get baptized this Saturday that is coming up. My Comp is leaving this Wednesday on a transfer. He is a little sad cuz he won't be here for the baptisms of this family. This past weekend people gave me more cake for my birthday. Our mini fridge in our house is full of cake. For the wedding also, we ate cake. The family is a little poor, so one of the members came to the wedding, which we had in their little house, and he brought cake and pop. It was really fun. My Companion also missed the wedding, cuz he was gone for the weekend in Choloma. It was really fun. I will send some pictures. Well, this month of October, my companion, I and the Lord put a goal of 8 baptisms. I would like to reach at least 10. Today, I went to a fabric store to look at some fabric for pants, and the lady that worked there came up and asked us what one has to do to congregate in the church. So we talked to her for a while, and she told us that she has been going to all kinds of churches lately and she says she still feels empty inside. She said she usually doesn’t share her thoughts like this, but she said, as she saw us, she filled up with joy, and felt something she has never felt before...by just looking at us! It was a great little talk. She has a family of 5 and we are going to visit her this week with my new companion. We also found a new young couple with two little kids that are really great. When we contacted them, he just pulled us right into his house, and he was like, “Look, I am not where I want to be spiritually. I want you to help me and my family”. They are the Familia Melgar. We are also teaching another family of 4 called the Familia Zelaya. And we are also visiting some other families and individuals, but we have to wait to see what happens there. This Saturday, I had a really spiritual interview with a lady that is 46 years old. The Sisters in my District told me that they had a woman who has been to church two times, and that they had been teaching for four weeks. They said she knows the Church is true, but doesn’t want to get baptized. So, Saturday I went to go meet her. I did a one on one little interview with her to ask her the baptismal questions. She told me she didn’t want to get baptized. Instead of trying to convince her, I felt I needed to talk to her about the atonement. So we talked about the atonement for about 15 minutes, and looked at a picture of Christ praying in Gethsemane. I bore my testimony, and afterwards she looked at me smiling, and asked me, “What time can I get baptized today?” So, at 7:00 on Saturday, she got baptized with her daughter that is 12. We went to her baptism, after we finished up with the rest of the interviews and lessons. After she got baptized, she got up and bore her testimony and said “at first I didn’t want to get baptized, but today I felt something very special. If you could only know what I am feeling right now!” She then told everyone, she wished she could enter the water again and get baptized. It was a really simple, small, and sincere testimony that filled me with the tingles. I love how the Lord uses us simple, 19 and 20-year-old boys as instruments to bring to pass great things. Well, my time is running out. I wish you all could see and feel the same things we go through everyday. They just aren’t the same here written on paper. Thanks for all the letters. Gotta run.
