I AM A DAD!
Fam,
How is everyone doing? Well, this week I had my first kid in the mission. I am now a Dad. I am still the District Leader here in Puerto Cortez, and I am training a little 19-year-old chunky Guatemalan who's fresh out of the MTC. I have been working harder than ever this past week. I want my new companion to learn how to work hard. We go to the park every hour, every day, and contact anyone in sight. We have found some great investigators doing that. Well, we were supposed to baptize a family of 8 this past Saturday. Two weeks ago we married them, and they were really excited for their baptisms the next Saturday. Then, this past Tuesday, Satan was working really hard with them. A pastor had been visiting them, and they fell. Satan won the battle. We did everything we could. We were visiting them every day, watching Church movies, but they gave in to the power of Satan. They now don’t want to get baptized, and didn’t go to church this past Sunday. We are going to go back and visit them next week, and see how things are. We have another family of four that we are teaching. They went to Church this past Sunday, and we are going to try to get them married this week, or the next, and baptize the whole family on the 28th of October. This Saturday, we are going to baptize a man that is about 35 named David Paz. He is divorced from his wife, and left his family in San Pedro. I found him in the park a little while ago and taught him the first lesson. I then talked to him about baptism and bore my testimony. After that, he looked at me directly in the eyes, and said “I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, when can I get baptized” Wow!...it was powerful. So anyways, we have a new Zone now....not completely new, but a new Elder in every Companionship. We were kind of sad to see all the Elders leave. This past Zone was the best Zone I have ever had. We were like one big great missionary. We had so much UNITY. They were all like my brothers. So, this past Saturday, we had our Zone Conference, to get everybody’s blood pumping and excited in the Zone. I gave the most powerful talk I have ever given on my mission. Us two District Leaders talked, and then the Zone Leaders talked for about five minutes. Right before I got up to speak, my Zone Leader, Elder Garcia, told me to get everyone excited. "No one looks animated", he told me. I was only going to talk for about ten minutes, but it ended up being about 25 minutes. After I got done, and sat down, my new zone leader, Elder Bean, looked at me and said, “You’re a Powerhouse!” I like getting Elders excited about the work. It is something I really didn’t do that well in the beginning of the mission. The Lord has really blessed me with my Spanish. I feel really comfortable with my Spanish right now. I think I would rather talk to a group of Elders in Spanish than in English. Well, I have to go, I don’t really have a lot of time. I have to prepare some stuff for my District Meeting tomorrow. Well Mom, you asked me what I wanted for Christmas. The money in my account for new shirts and pants sounds like a good idea. And if you want to know what I have been dreaming about it has been Reese's Puffs. I don’t know if that would be possible to send, but if you could, that would make my day. Well in my next letter, I will send a missionary message for the ward. Thanks for the love and support. You guys are great. Love you much. Keep up the great missionary work.
