HOLA FAM
Dear Fam,
It sounds like it has been a crazy little week for y'all up there. Great to hear another little girl goonie has been born into the world. Congrats Goonie on being a Dad. Hope you enjoy the diaper changing, and all the fun surprises that come in the diaper, and with being a Dad...like getting up at night! Thanks for the pictures. They were great. Well this week has been a pretty cool one. The Zone is rollin' along. We have over 30 possibilities to get baptized this upcoming week, on Saturday. This Zone has never baptized over 30 souls in one month. So the Lord is really working miracles here, and blessing us tremendously. I love being the Zone Leader here. The Elders are so awesome. We are a really young Zone, but we are just trying to humble ourselves, sacrifice ourselves, and let the lord bless us. I love going all over the Zone, to areas in the Zone, helping the Elders out, and meeting their investigators. This past week, I went out to Coyales (the famous banana farm that Dole Co. has) and then on Friday, I left for Trujillo on the Beach, with an Elder from Oregon directly from the MTC. It was really fun to work with him. I remembered my first days in the mission field when I thought I would never learn the language, fighting as hard as I could to talk and get them to understand me. It was an awesome little division. This kid is working so hard and has the desire to be a great missionary. I know the Lord is going to bless him. Well, today we only have P-day till 2:00, cuz on Wednesday, we have a little Christmas activity in Cieba. I feel really bad, because I haven’t written anybody for a long time. I still need to get Becca's birthday card in the mail. I feel like there is no time. We are always so busy. The clock is running down, and every minute feels really precious right now. Tomorrow, I am going to work with the Elders in Olanchito for a couple of hours, then I am going over to Coyoles again to help them invite some people to get baptized. So, tomorrow should be a fun little day. This last week, we dropped a family of four that we had planned to baptize about 2 weeks ago. They weren’t progressing, the Brother began smoking again, and they say they don’t want to get married till February. This last week, we found another family of four though. A humble little family called the Familia Ruiz. They went to church on Sunday and really liked it and could feel the Spirit. We are also working with a couple of other really awesome families and some individuals. This past Sunday, in the Branch Council thingy, we put a goal of 50 baptisms for the Branch between January and June. Last year, in this little Branch, only seven got baptized from January to June. I hope to stay here for another 6 months to see this miracle come to pass. In the little Branch Council, the leaders talked about a temple trip they are planning to take in February. It is so awesome to see members of the Church here sacrifice a whole ton of money that they have saved up the whole year, to go to the temple one time a year. Because of a new law they put up, now the kids have to have a passport to cross the border. And here it's not like the States, you can't just leave the kids with grandpa and grandma...You have to take them all. And now they have to pay 800 limperas for a passport. That is a lot of money for them here. With this new law, Sisters in the Branch have had to start selling stuff in their houses to get money, and start making things to sell, such as tortillas and hamburgers to get money for the trip, and to support other members who have absolutely nothing at all, so they can go on the trip also. This makes me think of people at our house in the States. You just have to get in your car and travel 30 minutes, and remember to take your temple clothes. Take advantage of the temple. It is such a blessing to have one so close. The people here only dream of that luxury. The people here can't wait until their temple is built in Honduras in Teguisigalpa, so they only have to travel 8 hours, instead of doing a 5-day trip with a whole bunch of costs. If you could only see how much the people sacrifice themselves just to go to the temple ONE time a year, you guys would go every day. Take advantage of having one so close to your house. Well, I have to get going... my time is running out. Thanks for the pictures and for the letters. They were great. Have a great week. Love, Elder Lee
