HOWDI
Dearest Fam,
Well here I am!... still in San Pedro. I will be having another
change here with the same companion Elder Lopez. This will be our 3rd change
together. Before this companion, the most I had had with one companion was two
changes (3 months). Well, I only have two changes left in the mission. That
kind of scares me. I really don't know where the time has gone, but yes it has
gone by too fast. There is a lot of work still to be done. The mission is
progressing every day. Our new president Presidente Cruz is an incredible man.
He is bigger than I am! He is from here in Honduras. He is from the
Teguisigalpa area (the capital of Hondo). He and his wife are amazing
people.
Well this past week was pretty crazy. We were running around all
over the place doing thousands of things. This past week, us missionaries held
a Stake Talent Night. Tons and tons of people showed up. It was awesome. Each
ward in the stake presented a talent (6 wards) and us missionaries (10) in the
zone also presented a talent. Our talent was hilarious. I will show you all
when I get home. I have it on video. After all the talents, we hooked up a big
projector and watched a 7 minute movie that missionaries in North Carolina made
that's called "From Small and Simple Things come the Big Ones" or
something like that. It's about a high school girl who gives a Book of Mormon
to a friend. At the beginning, the boy throws the book in his room like it was
nothing. Some time later, he was laying on his bed, reaches to the side of his
bed and picks up the Book of Mormon, and starts reading it. He kneels down and
prays. When he opens his eyes he is crying. He grabs the Book of Mormon and holds
it tight in his hands against his heart. Later, it shows him receiving the
missionaries with his family and then, when they are all dressed up in white
getting baptized. It is really powerful. It doesn't have words, its just video
with music. After the video we handed out a piece of paper to everyone that had
a picture of the new temple that will be built here in Honduras, and we asked
everyone to write a direccion of someone who may be willing to receive the
Gospel right now, in this time of their lives. We ended up receiving a ton of
references. All of the members loved the activity, and a lot brought their
friends also. In all it was a huge success. It took a lot of preparation and
planning. I am glad everything worked out good though. This upcoming week we
were going to have 2 baptisms, but one of the women we are teaching is having a
lot of problems and she didn't go to church this week. On Thursday, we found a
really special family of nine. Eight of them are older then 8. They are called
the Family Alegria. We have only visited them 2 times, but they look really
good. They love everything that we teach. We are going to help them progress.
Well I wanted to send pictures today, but I don't have my USV cord. I will send
them next week. Anyways, oh and yes, Melissa, I am receiving your pictures.
Keep them coming. All of your kids look like giants. Anna's kids also are
looking huge. Oh, and today I took out 3,500 lempiras from the bank. I don't
know how much that exactly is but it's about 19 lemps to the Dollar. Well thank
you all for the letters. Keep them coming. Next week I will send pictures and
maybe a bigger letter if we have time. Have a great week. Love you all. Elder
Lee
P.S. Oh and Dad don't worry... the 15 1/2 shirt will
fit me. I think I weigh about 185 or 190. I am looking a little smaller and
skinnier. My neck has shrunk a ton also. Right now I am not using any of the
shirts that I brought here to the mission. Throughout the mission I have been
collecting shirts that I find in houses. I am using four 15 1/2 and two
16 1/2 that guys sent me a little while back. But yea, don't worry though, I am
eating better then ever! :) Every Friday morning, before our leadership
meeting, we eat all you can eat baleadas. I usually eat about 6-9. And on Sunday,
with my favorite cook of the mission, we eat all you can eat baleadas also. My
cook makes baleadas on Sunday for whoever comes over to her house. I love the
Honduras culture. Everyone is so close and love to be together... like family.
On Sundays, after meetings, mostly the whole ward goes my cook's house and eats
baleadas. And when somebody leaves on vacation, everyone goes to their house to
tell them "goodbye and take care". Yesterday a family left to Miami, Florida
to stay for a month and the whole ward went to go say bye to them. The people
here are awesome. Some of them know that you guys are coming down and they are
really excited to see you. Well , now I got to go for reals! Have a good week. Loves and Hugs, Elder Lee
