HONDO FAM
Dear Fam,

Well, I am really pumped up right now. We are
going to have so much success this change here in my favorite area, La Aurora.
Yes, that is right, I do not have a transfer, and I am the happiest person on
the planet. My companion will be going this Wednesday to another area, and I
will be receiving a new companion. It has been a wonderful four and a half
months with him here. We have learned so much from each other, but we both
really wanted a change. Change in the mission is always good. I am so ready for
this last change. We are going to tear it up. This Sunday we had an absolutely
awesome activity. We had a ¨Missionary for One Day¨ activity. We had 24 members
of the church be a missionary for one day. We gave them their mission calls
last week in church (assigned by the stake presidency) to serve as a missionary
for one day. They all got up yesterday at 6 o’clock and got ready, then went by
investigators’ homes to pick them up for church. Church starts at 8:00, then
after church, everyone went home to eat. Then at 2 o’clock we all met at the
church, gave everyone their companion, and then had a ¨District Meeting¨. I gave the training for all the “missionaries”,
and my companion did some practices. It went awesome. We designated each
companionship to a certain part here in my area. We gave each companionship
pamphlets, books of Mormon, and reference cards. At 3:30 we were all in the
streets contacting and working. My companion and I each had a companion also. I
went with the Patriarch of the Stake, and my companion went with a brother
called Brother Discua. At 8:00 we had
everyone meet in the church again and give their report. We had each
companionship come up front and give their report on how it went and the people
they found. You should have seen the excitement and the missionary spirit that
these members had. They were so excited for the people that they had found and
for the Books of Mormon and pamphlets they had handed out. With all the
references now we have at least a month load of work. This was an activity that
we planned in our zone leadership meeting (me, my companion and our two district
leaders) that we have every Friday. We
had each companionship in the zone do this activity in their wards. In total it
was a huge success for us in the zone. Its too bad I didn’t think of the idea
before now. We should be seeing fruits from this activity for a long time. The
members are really pumped to work in the missionary work now, now that they
have had their own little experience as a missionary. On Saturday we also had
another baptism. Julissa, a 15-year-old girl, daughter of SoƱia, a lady we baptized
about 4 weeks ago, finally decided that she wanted to get baptized. The baptism
was really special. I would send the picture, but I don’t have the cable right
now. After the baptism all the members went to her house and we ate cake. It
was really fun. Well, for the hurricane news: Everything was pretty much
flooded here in the mission except here in San Pedro. We just had lots and lots
of rain and that’s it. We were told that if it was raining that we were to be
inside. I hate being inside. There is nothing to do inside. But yea all the
missionaries in the mission came in here to San Pedro for about 3 days. They
are all now in their areas again. Anyways, I am really hungry and I need to eat
lunch. Dad if you want to talk to someone who knows a little bit about hotels
here is the number to a man named Brother Douglas Butts. He is a gringo from
Utah that is living here in Honduras for a little while, here in my area. He
got divorced from his wife in Utah and met someone from here and they got married.
He goes to my ward here in San Pedro. He is about 60 years old. But he could
tell you where the best place to stay is. The phone number is 9989 2437. I
already told him that you will be calling. If his wife picks up the phone just
ask for Brother Butts, his wife doesn’t speak English, but she knows that you
will be calling. Anyways, not that I am baggie/trunkie, but are you going to
register me for my classes at BYU Idaho?
I am accepted for Winter and
Spring Quarters (January to August, right?). That is where I want to go… at least
for a little bit. I am interested though in transferring down to Utah in Provo,
but I want to start off in Idaho. What is our new phone number?... because one
of my friends that gets off the mission on the 12th of September in Spain will
be calling you. So if you could send me our new address and phone number that
would be great. Anyways, I have to get running. Thank you all for your letters
and keep up the great work in what you’re all doing. Love you much. Love,
Elder Lee
Here are some pictures: 1. Julissa and my Companion 2.the cake we promised Julissa after her baptism. It was a little baptism party :) 3. A picture of my Companion, Julissa, and Me. Aren’t I looking really skinny? 4. Baptism of Julissa. She is a 15-year-old girl. She didn’t want to get baptized with her Mom about four weeks ago. Her Mom is the one with the black and white shirt. Yeah, they look like sisters, but that is her Mom! 5. This is the poster of Elders that we made for our Missionary Stake Talent Show. It was about a month ago. It was a Huge Success.
