A LETTER FOR MY MISSIONARY FRIENDS BACK HOME
Dear
Elders, Friends, and Goonies,
Honduras
life is awesome! Washing my clothes on rocks, sitting on dirt floors,
teaching the Gospel, and eating tortillas with beans, eggs, and rice every day.
These past nine months have been awesome. The Lord has really humbled, blessed,
and taught me a lot of things in a little under a year. I love the people of
Honduras. I have had three ares, five Comps, and a whole lot of wonderful
experiences. I feel like I am leaving my family again, every time I leave each
area and companion. I started off on the Beach in Tela, then was moved out into
the boonies (Los Morelos) to open up that area, and now I am here in Vista
Hermosa with my greenie comp, with 3 months in the mission, from Guatemala. The
Lord has blessed me with five awesome companions, four from Guatemala, and one
from California. Every day I learn and see something new. I can't imagine
serving anywhere else other than in Honduras. I feel like I have found (and am
still on a giant treasure hunt to find more of) my long lost brown brothers.
The people here are so humble and thankful for life. It makes one just sit and
ponder...what really does make one happy? I am so grateful for the wonderful
experiences I have had. The experiences I have had and felt can't even be
written on paper. I have come to realize the words of the Apostle, Elder Joseph
B. Wirthlin (that I heard in the MTC), are reality. He said, "The mission
is like a football game. It's gonna take everything you got and more. You are
going to experience pain, bumps, and bruises, and awesome experiences. The
bumps and bruises will fade away with time, but the memories and friendships we
build will last a lifetime". The mission really does have its ups and downs,
but with all the blessings one receives, it is all worth it. I would never
trade anything for the wonderful, life changing experiences I have had, and I
am looking forward to another year and three months of great times...that of
committing my Brothers and Sisters of Honduras to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Once they are committed, they will become Power Houses in helping to bring to
pass this great work of building God's Kingdom. Well, Goonies and Friends, I
have to make things short...if there is any advice I could give to any of you,
it would be: Study Hard, Pray Hard, Be Obedient, and Work your Guts Out, and
the Lord will do His part. Always Smile and don’t be Afraid...Fear breaks
us...Face your fears and never be scared to talk to anyone. We have Priesthood Power,
and the greatest message in the whole world, and there is no reason to be
ashamed about anything. I have learned, not too long ago, that we need to bring
our passion, will, strength, and everything we've got, to be united with the
will of God, and keep pushing every day, so the Lord will always be by our
side. We aren’t alone. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ and everything he has
done for me. I love my calling, and there is nothing I would rather be doing
right now than serving in this Work of the Lord. I am grateful to be a member
of this Church. Too often, we run into members of the Catholic Church who say,
I was born a Catholic, baptized a Catholic, and I will die a Catholic. Well,
that is almost my conviction as well...Except, I was born a Mormon, baptized a
Mormon, and will die a Mormon. I will never deny the truth of this Gospel, and
of the Book of Mormon. I love you all, and hope everything is going great.
Until we meet again. Hale Pinta mis Hermanos,
Con Amor, Elder Lee
